Legendary runner Bruce Fordyce is to team up with well-known endurance journalist Larry Lombaard to ride in the 2005 edition of the Cape Epic.

Lombaard confirmed the news with a smile today and said he was looking forward to the epic challenge. “The organisers have arranged two bikes for us and it looks like we’re all set,” said Lombaard.

Fordyce, who is still the most successful Comrades runner with nine wins under his belt, can also boast to have completed the Dusi Canoe Marathon a total of nine times. It will be his first outing of this endurance kind, however.

His Comrades adversary, Nick Bester, completed last year’s Epic and has also entered for this year’s version, so the old Comrades rivalry might yet flair up again.
