After being left out of the Tour de France Rabobank squad, South Africa’s Robert Hunter wasted no time in showing the great form he is in at the moment.

Hunter won two stages in the International UNIQA Classic, a 2.3 event on the international cycling calendar, last week and also claimed the points jersey in the highly ranked event.

In his chat to Cyclingnews.co.za he said: ’The tour was never really on my program so I was not too disappointed not to be racing in France. My preparations for the Olympic Games are going well and I am really motivated for the event."

With his two stage victories in Austria he has now scored the most race wins in the Rabobank team this season. These two stage wins were enough to win the points competition and earn more valuable UCI points for himself and his country.
