The Ride Crater Cruise looks to be well on schedule to make a record-breaking debut on  SA cycling’s national fixture list.

Ride magazine’s Attie Koekemoer confirmed early on Tuesday morning that the organisers had already received  “over 1 800 pre-entries, and even being extremely conservative, we believe that the final figure could be anywhere between 2 300 – 2 500 riders; we are delighted with the response from the South African cycling public!”

The reasons for the magnificent response are manifold, ranging from the massive R100 000 prize fund to the joys of some fast but finicky riding on the slalom-like sandy roads around Parys.

Just about all the big names in SA cycling – road and off-road, including the European-based Robert Hunter – will be at the start in Parys on Saturday morning, October 16.

It’s got all the signs of turning into ’n “moeerrse race”, don’t miss it!

The organisers  have re-emphasised that there will be NO ENTRIES ON RACE DAY.

However, late entries will be taken until 21h00 on Friday evening, October 15, (with a late penalty fee).
