Phonak’s Floyd Landis has taken over the yellow jersey  at the
Dodge Tour of Georgia  from South African  team-mate, Robert
Hunter, after the American won the individual time trial.

Landis  is  Phonak’s  designated GC rider for the Dodge Tour of
Georgia , and a former “domestique” for the great Lance Armstrong,
whom he helped to his historic sixth TDF victory last year.

Landis clocked 39:58 for the very wet 29,9km TT, just six seconds
off Lance Armstrong’s 2004 winning time. His reaction to his win
and the classy time was typical, pointing out simply that this was
“as good as I could have hoped(for) , but it’s not over yet, we’ll see!’

Another former U.S. Postal rider, David Zabriskie, finished in a strong
second place for his CSC team, moving him up to just nineteen seconds
behind Landis on the overall classification .

Defending champion, Lance Armstrong, who finished ninth, confirmed after
the race that. “ ’I didn’t feel great, but I thought I would do better. ’

Armstrong pointed out, “ Now the race is on the shoulders of Phonak and
CSC and we’ll just be secondary players, and see if we can mix things up
 a little.’

Race leader Floyd Landis has a lot on his plate for the next stage, and
 he knows it.

It will be especially tough because the Phonak team is two riders short,
and Hunter, who celebrates his birthday today, will be spending most of
it working hard to make sure Landis stays in yellow.

“I’ll be doing the best I can to help Floyd,” confirmed Hunter.

 Happy Birthday, Robert !! .
